Gürkan Sengölge

Gürkan Sengölge, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine Leading attending physician of the acute dialysis and intensive care unit at the University Clinic for Internal Medicine III at the Medical University of Vienna (MUV). Areas of Special Interest Interventional Nephrology, central venous pathologies and dialysis access, systemic diseases, glomerular endothelium. Education and Training Dr Sengölge specialized in internal medicine and intensive care medicine at the MUV. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship in nephrology at the MUV and The Johns Hopkins University. Research Dr. Sengölge has a research group specialized in central venous pathology and access, pharmacogenetics and molecular structure of glomerular endothelial cell. Other roles Dr. Sengölge is responsible for the continuing education programme and doctor-in-training education programme at the University Clinic for Internal Medicine III, Department of Nephrology and Dialysis, as well as numerous interdisciplinary and multi-professional activities. These include the dialysis access clinic, patient information sessions for chronic kidney insufficiency and a study group for systemic diseases. He also acts as senior mentor for medical students within the Mentoring Programme of the MUV. Dr. Sengölge has performed several functions abroad: he established Nephrology and Dialysis Department at Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur and worked as a consultant for conceptual planning at the Al Ain Hospital in the United Arab Emirates and for the National Research Center for Maternal and Child Health (NRCMC) in Astana, Kazakhstan.
