Charmaine E Lok

Dr. Charmaine Lok is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at the Toronto General Research Institute, Toronto, Canada. She is the Medical Director of the multidisciplinary chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hemodialysis programs at the University Health Network, Toronto, Canada. Her research interests are in clinical trials, patient health outcomes and functional ability, dialysis access and cardiovascular disease in CKD and ESKD. Dr. Lok is also active in raising awareness of CKD and ESKD and its importance in public health. She is the Chair of the KDOQI Vascular Access Guidelines and is involved in a variety of local and international scientific and educational programs, including ASN, CIHR, DOPPS, National Kidney Foundation (NKF), and Kidney CARE Network International.
